Our relationship with UCL

We have been part of UCL (University College London) since we came into being in 2017. Our staff team is part of the UCL Co-production and Public Engagement team that sits within the Library, Culture, Collections and Open Science (LCCOS) department at UCL which is part of the Faculties Team who have responsibility for the overall UCL Institutional strategy. A number of senior people from UCL are also part of our Allies Group.

Our journey

Back in 2017, a group got together with an idea: to co-create a centre to support co-production in health research, innovation and practice. Funded by the Wellcome Trust and supported by UCL(University College London), we were originally known as the UCL Centre for Co-production.

We have been part of UCL (University College London) since we were started out with funding from Wellcome Trust in 2017. We have our own strategy and approach (Our Direction 2023-2028) which focusses on influencing culture change within and external to UCL. We want to see co-production widely valued and embedded as a way of working across UCL nationally and internationally.

Our team and its activities are part funded by organisations that commission us to provide co-production training, consultancy and support for their research, service or policy development projects and part funded by research grants that we are a partner in. See our latest impact report for a breakdown where you can also read about some of our latest projects.

We couldn’t do what we do without our community, a large and diverse group of people who are both internal and external to UCL, with lived, living and learnt experience.
