Website accessibility
The website is run by Co-Production Collective at UCL with support from our website agency, Big Lemon. We have created the site taking best practice web accessibility guidelines into account, including WCAG 2.0, WCAG 2.1 and BS 8878.
We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website which means you should be able to:
- Change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings.
- Zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen.
- Navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software.
- Listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver).
We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

Our Ways of Working
We are committed to making our activities as accessible as possible. This document outlines how we conduct our meetings and communications to ensure inclusivity.
Meetings
We aim to conduct all our meetings in a way that we hope is sensitive to people’s needs. Therefore, as part of the introduction to our meetings we ask participants to respect different people’s needs and styles of contributing and explain that some people prefer to write rather than speak and both are equally valid:
- Whenever we host a meeting, we always build in time for smaller break out groups to allow people to meet in smaller groups.
- All of our facilitators and trained and encouraged to ensure that everyone who wants to have a chance to speak and that a minority of people are not able to dominate a conversation.
Face to face meetings
- Face-to-face meetings that we host take place in community settings that and close to transport links and are accessible to wheelchairs and other disabilities.
- At face-to-face meetings we always try and ensure there is space for contributing idea via writing as well as speaking and that there is an opportunity to talk in smaller groups for those who don’t feel comfortable talking in bigger groups.
Online meetings
- Live captioning via Otter AI is provided at online meetings that we host on Zoom including our Co-Pro Cuppas , co-creation meetings, online training sessions etc. If you ever require Otter AI at a smaller online meeting for example a project meeting let us know and we can set this up.
- BSL interpreters at large online or face-to-face meetings, if required.
- For those that don’t wish to speak out there is always the option to put responses in the chat and these will be picked up by the facilitator so that these contributions can be given equal weight.
Communications
We do our best ensure our communications are as accessible as possible:
- Everything we produce is screen reader friendly with Alt text for all images
- All downloadable documents from our website are available in PDF and Microsoft Word Formats
- Key reports and Policy documents (e.g.: Our Direction 2023-2028 and Value of Co-Production Research Project) are available in a variety of formats including Audio, MP4, Braille, EPUB and Mobi. In addition to this, key elements of the Value of Co-production Research Projects are also available in Easy Read versions.
- When we write we do our best to use plane language and avoid acronyms and if we do have to use any complex language or acronyms we explain them and provide additional links for people who want to learn more.
- Newsletters can be posted to members of the community who find it difficult to read from screes and don’t have access to a printer. If you would like us to provide this service for you please email coproduction@ucl.ac.uk
- All of our videos are captioned and we are looking at how we can add more video to our communications to make them even more accessible.
