December 13, 2023
With only a few weeks remaining of 2023, it is once again time to celebrate our achievements, reflection our year and express our gratitude for all your contributions to the Co-production Collective in 2023. Before we do that, we wanted to share some updates from key things that have been happening in the last few weeks.
Measuring Success in Co-production: Learning by Doing Programme
As we approached the end of November, we welcomed over 50 applications for the Measuring Success in Co-production: Learning by Doing Programme and were excited to start our co-produced reviewing process. We plan to announce the projects chosen in early in 2024. In parallel, we have also been planning the next phase of the programme and our ‘Deepening Practice and Sharing and Learning’ sessions. More information will be made available on the dedicated programme webpage as we progress through the programme.
Darzi Fellowship Programme at London South Bank University
Vita and Krisztina joined London Southbank University’s Darzi Fellowship Programme's Co-production workshop as peer learners. They supported the Fellow’s learning during the 2-day long event, where they explored the experiences of co-design and co-production, power politics and the history of co-production, assisted the group in building a list of key principles underlying effective co-production, the impact of co-production and whether and how to evaluate it amongst other topics.
We have also been busy delivering co-production training for Royal Free Charity, West Midlands Perinatal Network and have facilitated a session for UK Preconception Partnership bringing together members of the public and researchers to work on a research strategy in relation to health prior to getting pregnant.
This year, our community worked hard to deliver co-production trainings, co-creation sessions to co-produce ourselves, and contributed to many internal and external projects. You will read more about key external projects we have worked on in our upcoming ‘Our Impact Report 2023’ which we hope to share with you toward the end of February.
In this blog, we’d like to reflect on the projects we have worked on as a community this year that help champion co-production as well as those relating to co-producing ourselves as away to model co-production practices for others. Projects worked on include:
All about Ethics
The 'All about Ethics’ project delves into the dynamics of research ethics when it comes to co-production, public involvement, and engagement. The project involved discussions with over 50 individuals from various backgrounds, including co-producers, public contributors, researchers, and ethics professionals outside of academia. Based on the project and our findings, we developed a guidance document which is available via PDF and Word Document.
You can read the full project report as a PDF or a Word document.
Our Safeguarding statement
We developed and published a Safeguarding statement to address concerns raised during discussions and feedback from our community. The statement emphasizes the need for collective understanding and consideration in effectively challenging, correcting, or escalating safeguarding concerns. It highlights that safety should be an integral part of our work, and the importance of creating tailored, safe environments for co-production. The statement also acknowledges the risks in co-production and stresses the value of responding to concerns with the skills necessary for understanding and support.
The statement is available as a PDF and a Word Document.
Our Direction 2023-2028
We are really excited to have launched 'Our Direction 2023-2028', which contains our new our vision for the future and approach to achieving this vision. This document, our new strategy, is the result of months of collaborative effort and deep reflection.is not just a document but a guiding light that will shape our activities in the years to come.
It outlines our Vision, Mission, Steps to Change, and our new evolved values and is available as a PDF and Word Document or audio version.
You can more read about how we co-produced it and why in this blog. Thanks to all of you who took time to contribute to this. We are looking forward to using it to shape our future work.
