December Team Update: Wrapping up 2024

December 12, 2024

As we wrap up 2024, we're excited to share the latest news from Co-Production Collective. This month, we celebrated the achievements of the Measuring Success in Co-production programme as well as the Ear Checks Programme, which was shortlisted for an award at the Health Service Journal Awards, recognising the team’s efforts to reduce healthcare inequalities for children and young people. Big thank you for your support and contributions to Co-Production Collective in 2024 and we look forward to continuing to champion co-production with you in 2025.

What we’ve been up to

Measuring Success in Co-production

We hosted Measuring Success in Co-production – Celebration and Learning event which celebrated the experiences and outputs of the eight project teams funded in the programme. Alongside our Measuring Success team all eight funded project teams shared some of their experiences and collective learning gained during this journey. The event took place on Zoom and had over 140 participants and was a mix of presentations and interactive sessions where people could delve deeper into what was learned. You can find out more about the event our blog coming soon. Thank you for everyone who came, and congratulations to the Measuring Success project team and the eight funded projects!

Ear Checks Programme

The Ear Checks Programme we have been working on with NHS England was shortlisted for an award at the Health Service Journal Awards. The award recognises innovative and creative initiatives which aim to reduce healthcare inequalities for children and young people. Thank you to Tympa Health Technologies Ltd for being a medical technology partner in this project and sponsoring our attendance.

Mental Health Sciences PhD

We ran two training sessions for students on the  UCL Wellcome Health Science PhD programme. Nicc, Chloe, and Naheen kicked off the first session for the fifth and final cohort of students by giving them an introduction to co-production. Chloe, Siobhan, and Nicc also worked with the fourth cohort of students. This most recent session focused on helping them develop plans for their final projects and supporting them to explore how they can incorporate perspectives from people with lived experience into their research.

COMMET project

Sarah went to the launch event for projects funded by UK Research and Innovation as part of a new interdisciplinary funding scheme. We are part of the COMMET Project, which is funded by this scheme and is aiming to co-produce mathematical models that tell us more about how infectious diseases spread. We are currently looking for two co-producers to join our team! Read more about this opportunity in our blog, the deadline for applications is Monday 6 January 10:00 (UK time).

The Policy Research Unit in Reproductive Health

George, Nicc, Rachel and Priya have been supporting various co-production sessions for the projects that are part of the Policy Research Unit in Reproductive Health.

Coming up

Nicc is attending the NIHR Challenge: Maternity Inequalities Pre and Interconception Networking Event. This event is part of a project that we are working on with Southampton University, UK Preconception Partnership and several Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) that aims find new ways to provide better care and support before and between pregnancies for women from minority backgrounds and those living in less advantaged areas.

The Policy Research Unit in Reproductive Health (which we are supporting to work in a co-produced way) will be hosting their first Advisory Group Meeting co-chaired by Isaac Samuels and Alison Hadley. We recently help to recruit 20 people to join the Advisory Group half with lived and half with learnt experience. You can read more about their role in this blog. Thanks to all of you who applied for this opportunity. We will be sharing more about this in the new year.

Nicc and Stuart will be doing a lunch and learn session about Co-Production Collective and how we came about for City St Georges, part of University of London.

Take part in our 2024 Community Survey

As you may have seen, we recently launched our 2024 Community Survey to help us understand how our community engage with Co-Production Collective and explore what else we could do improve this. The survey will take you no more than 15 minutes to complete and we'd love your input into this. If you haven’t filled it in yet there is still time, so please do so and help us spread the word. If you would like to read more about the survey including why we are doing it and payment available you can in this blog.

Opportunity to join the Executive Board for UCL’s British Heart Foundation Centre of Research Excellence
