Opportunity to be part of an Independent Advisory Group for the NIHR Policy Research Unit in Reproductive Health

Background to the project

The National Institute of Health & Care Research (NIHR) Policy Research Unit in Reproductive Health is a new £3 million research investment over 3 years from January 2024. Its purpose is to produce high-quality research evidence to inform policy about health, care, and public health systems for reproductive health in England. The Unit work closely with the Department of Health and Social Care and other government departments. As a team they strive to improve the support and care provided to communities and individuals' experiences of reproductive health.

Co-Production Collective is supporting The Policy Research Unit in Reproductive Health to work in a co-produced way which is why we are posting this blog.

The Independent Advisory Group

The Policy Research Unit in Reproductive Health are looking for people with lived or learnt experience who are passionate about reproductive health to join an Independent Advisory Group (IAG).

Independent Advisory Group members will play an essential role in guiding the Unit’s work, acting as "critical friends" by offering feedback and insights. Members will help ensure the research stays aligned with the needs of communities and health systems. The responsibilities include:

  • Keeping the Unit informed about the topics that matter most.
  • Reviewing and providing feedback on research proposals and outputs.
  • Contributing to plans for how to share research findings.
  • Sharing their knowledge and experience to help shape the direction of the Unit's work.

The deadline for applications is Monday 21 October at 17:00.

The first Independent Advisory Group meeting will be held on Monday 16 December 2024. Please ensure that you are available to attend a meeting on this date when considering this role.
