Join us to explore where Co-Production Collective is heading - and how we'll get there.
Hard as it is to believe, we’ve been in existence as Co-Production Collective for 18 months and are coming towards the end of our original two-year co-created strategy, ‘Our Direction 2020-2022’. Lots has changed in that period and, as we start to look to the future once again, it’s time to pause, reflect, and check and challenge the direction we’re taking.
To do this, we want to look at the bigger picture, the context we’re working in, and think deeply about the reason we exist:
We want to co-create Co-Production Collective’s ‘Journey of Change’ to help us be clear and transparent about where we think we’re heading and how we’re going to get there – a road map of sorts. We like the idea of a ‘Journey’ as there may be different paths to explore as we work towards our destination, but we’ll be doing it together and learning as we go.
Our Journey of Change will provide us with guidance to inform our co-creation of the next phase of Our Direction over the summer as we attempt to answer some of the questions outlined above and a framework for us to test out in future. As we deliver the activity we hope will lead to change, we can reflect and learn along the way, testing our assumptions about what we think we need to do and the difference it will make. Our Journey of Change will be a ‘living’ tool to help us plan, prioritise, understand and co-evaluate our ongoing activity – and build the evidence base for co-production more broadly.
We want as many people as possible from the Co-Production Collective community to be involved in this co-creation process, bringing together our different perspectives and experiences to develop a Journey of Change which makes sense for all of us.
There will be a few different ways to do this, from getting involved in a co-creation session to contributing via documents or individual conversations. Tom and Danny, our friends from Co:Create will be helping to design and deliver these activities with us throughout April-June.
There will be five main steps to plot the first stage of our journey:
We’ll work together in a large group and breakouts to dig down and understand the problems and issues we’re trying to tackle.
We’ll share where we got to in the workshop in a form that everyone (including those unable to make the co-creation session) can contribute to – via online documents, over email or through phone conversations.
Now we’ve got a clearer sense of what we’re trying to tackle, we plan to start to think about the positive changes we want to try and create through our work.
We’ll share where we got to in co-creation session 2 in a form that everyone (including those unable to make the co-creation session) can contribute to – via online documents, over email or through phone conversations.
If you are joining the co-creation sessions in a personal capacity, rather than in a paid role, then we can offer our usual rate of £75 for each session. This covers the two hours of the session plus prep and follow-up activity. There will be information about this when you register your place, as well as help with any accessibility support you may need.
We’re not anticipating the ‘co-creation in your own time’ activities taking any longer than one hour, so if you’re contributing via this method only then we can offer £25, or £50 if you participate in both of these activities.
Anybody is welcome to get involved with this co-creation process, whether you’re new to our community or have been around for years!
You can register for the two co-creation events via the links below or our events page (you can also email us if you're having any difficulties doing this):
Co-creation session 1 - Thursday 28 April, 10am
Co-creation session 2 - Thursday 26 May, 2pm
Please bear in mind that we only have limited places for these sessions – 25 for each one – so we’d be grateful if you only signed up if you’re sure you’re able to come and contribute. We will have a waiting list so if you do sign up and then discover you can’t join us, please cancel your place so we can offer it to somebody else.
The activities following each co-creation session will be open for a couple of weeks for anyone to contribute to in their own time. We will share more about this and different ways to contribute nearer the time.
If you have any questions or would like more information, please drop us a line: coproduction@ucl.ac.uk
We’re really looking forward to taking this next step in the Co-Production Collective journey – we hope you’ll be part of it too.
