Job opportunity: Policy Officer – Hearing Checks Project

July 6, 2022

Jump into a new role with the Co-Production Collective Team! We're looking for a great communicator and collaborator to join us.

Are you interested in co-production and inclusive health policy? Do you have experience of working on projects or programmes and enjoy working with people from a variety of different backgrounds? If so, this could be the role for you!

Co-Production Collective is currently in the second year of a project we’ve been commissioned to deliver by NHS England and NHS Improvement. The project involves the co-production of innovative new approaches and improved access to hearing checks for children and young people who are autistic, have a learning disability, or both, in residential special schools across England.

This role exists to support the co-production of a national policy to support long term implementation of this work on a national scale. It will involve advising on and supporting the development of multiple co-production processes and opportunities, ensuring that this policy is informed by the perspectives of everyone involved.

This role would be part-time – four days a week (30 hours) although, we are open to a discussion about number of hours. It would involve working closely with Chloe and Niccola from the Co-Production Collective team, our community co-producers and the NHS England& NHS Improvement project team. The role is funded until the end of March2023 in the first instance.

Key Requirements

First and foremost, we’re looking for someone who is committed to upholding Co-Production Collective’s core values. These underpin our approach to co-production and guide everything we do. More specifically, we’re looking for someone who is a great organiser, communicator and collaborator, and has a strong understanding of accessibility.

We encourage applications from those who are underrepresented in the university sector and at UCL, including, but not exclusive to

  • non-graduates
  • disabled, D/deaf and neurodivergent people
  • LGBTQ+ people
  • people from Black, Asian and minoritised ethnic communities

We welcome applicants from a range of educational backgrounds and therefore do not require a minimum formal qualification for this role.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference, in an exciting and stimulating environment, and to learn as you go along. We really need your help to keep this work on track and make sure we can achieve the delivery of this project in partnership with NHS England and NHS Improvement.

Our four values are being human, being inclusive, being transparent, and being challenging. In detail this means valuing people as people, doing everything wholeheartedly, supporting people to be included, sharing power, and questioning both the status quo and ourselves.
The values we co-produced with our community
